Description
Crown Point is green space that matters: a biologically diverse living laboratory that serves to demonstrate practical applications of ecology. The 115 acre property is a regional model for sustainable agriculture and environmental education. The farm is a very important piece of Crown Point. We are currently cultivating about 8 acres of farmland, and grow more than 60 types of vegetables and some fruits. We market our crops to farmer's markets, our CSA (one of the oldest in the region), and also donate approximately 8,000 pounds of food each year to the Akron Canton Food bank and other social service organizations in Summit Co. Our garden plants are sold at an annual sale. Each year, Crown Point hires farm interns who learn the basics of organic vegetable farming, including skills in crop production, food safety, soil management, permaculture principles, and more.
