Description
We are a diversified farm located in beautiful northwest Michigan, overlooking the north end of Torch Lake and 1.5 miles from Lake Michigan at Eastport, Michigan. We are a 45 minute drive each way from our two largest cities, Traverse City and Petoskey. We grow 20+ acres of certified organic vegetables, some popular herbs, and 80 acres of organic hay. We raise 20 pastured pigs per year sold by the side, a small Belted Galloway beef herd, and a small Katahdin lamb herd. We sell CSA vegetable, berry, and pork shares for 22 weeks; attend 6 markets in high season, and have several wholesale accounts. Apprentices are given a paycheck at a rate that's dependent on past work experience, length of commitment and work ethic. Our employees are covered under workman's comp. We have many resources on and off the farm to further farm education. On farm work includes all aspects of growing and selling produce, some animal care, record keeping, farm market booth, etc.
